Re: Adela de Blois
Wonderful post, Norbert. However, i subscribe to the vomit-inducing and arrogantly pompous opinion that...i have forgotten what laughably stupid hagiography I was about to spew up due to liking my own mentally-unstable opinions, and rambling on in a transparently pretencious and retardedly rabid rant- even though i don't have our own website to destroy.

Re: Adela de Blois
Hugo,
1100 would be my choice. How can it be 1087 or 1096 when The Norman Revolution survived intact in both instances despite the Counter-Revolutionary surges?

Re: Adela de Blois
Splendid post Digby! About 6 am on the morning of 21st April 1101 would be my guess. This being based on a recently discovered manuscript The de Blois code which argues that Adela converted just as she had single handed finished building the northern gardrobe of Miximatosis Abbey!Something Jacques de Molay also revealed under torture also disclosed in The De Blois Code!
Fascinating!

Riveting factual information, Quentin-Humphrey! However, IMO, incontrovertible evidence has simultaneously and industriously been unearthed by diligent cyber-archaeologists working on digital and electronically-pulsated websites and other associated animatronics, that a plethora of pretencious, pusillanimous, cantankerous and essentially verbose pseudo-intellectual imbeciles -armed with impotent, irrelevant plagiarism and hysterical fulmination, and merely capable of condescending and patronising with redundant, homo-erotic and semi-mythical hagiography, have infested what is essentially an otherwise magnanimous, phenomenal medium of exhilarating and informative communication.

Re: Adela de Blois
To return the thread to sanity. My choice is 1096.The First Crusade with its Counter-Revolutionary impact and in direct opposition to everything that the Cluniacist Convent at Marcigny represented when Hugues founded it, and which Adele frequently attended, sums it up.
You cannot square a circle like that without finding yourself in a hypocrites' swamp. Adele did that and in so doing, betrayed Revolutionary Cluniacism. There is no evidence that there was any conflict of opinion with Hugues when he wrote that famous letter to Philippe 1 condemning the Red's assassination. Her position in 1096 was indefensible, that was the reason for her refusal to argue the point with him.

Re: Adela de Blois
Housecarl:
I was addressing my remarks to this "S.Walsh", who appears to be part of the WRTF. Nothing s/he says makes any sense. I have no idea what s/he/it is referring to when they mention the year 1096, unless it has something to do with the First Crusade. And what this has to do with "Cluniacism", I have absolutely no clue.
