Re: William II the gay king (and he was jolly, too!)
Housecarl:
Most of the sites you list are "gay" web sites that list a lot of people who were supposedly gay/lesbian, but may or may not have been. HOwever, all of them mention William "Rufus"> Which I think is significant, especially in view of the fact that he had no known children, nor did he ever get married --- which, for those days was decidedly odd. Particularly considering kings were supposed to marry and have offspring, so there would always(at least in theory) be a king around.
Some other "factoids": I don't know why he was called "Rufus"(or whatever he was called). One site claimed it was (a) because he had red ahir or (b) because he had a ruddy complexion or (c) because he had a "volatile" temper. Bear in mind that the description of "blond" hair might also include the lighter shades of red; monks who wrote the chronicles were often not as precise about these things as some of us might have liked them to be, living today.
In any case, and to return to the claim that William II must have been bisexual, what evidence there is, simply doesn't favor it. If he'd been bisexual, wouldn't he have left some offspring(I'm asking the WRTF to try and answer this one)? I mean, bisexual implies being attracted to members of both sexes, after all.

Exactly, hence their input.
Even other gay kings (ie. Edward II amongst others) sired offspring, so as you say, it's "odd" that this king didn't?
If the WalterMitty "forum" are as gay-friendly as they tend to appear, what's the shame in going along with the general concensus (and Prof. Frank Barlow) that their "hero" was indeed homosexual?
Just stubborn for it's own sake, like the formely bullied schoolchild trying to exert their "strength" in later teenage years?

Housecarl:
Yeah. YOu're right. All the other gay kings left offspring or at least got married(Richard I). And there's some question about him, in the minds of some historians. But "Rufus" neither married nor had any children that anybody knows of. Which is why I kinda wonder why anybody would dispute the "gay" label here. Maybe the WRTF has some information that Barlow and the rest of us don't?

William le muncher de matelas de patinoire a été détesté par même ses propres pairs, sans parler de l'église qu'il a volée de et détesté, l'apogée échouant dans la première priorité de ce mou-poignet comme ce « roi » - ie. regarder après l'église!

Given, so to speak, the temper of that particular time, I think you are probably right. The guy wasn't known for his sense of humor, whatever else he was known for.
